Artwork Spotlight: Sahar Khoury

Two sculptures by artist Sahar Khoury are sonically activated monuments to music.

Honoring the musical legacies of West Asia, Sahar Khoury’s 2025 sculpture Untitled (dj deck for 8ulentina and Lara) includes a working DJ deck where local DJs spun records throughout the run of the exhibition Rave into the Future

Opening night of Rave Into the Future, October 2025.

Oakland-based Arab Persian American artist Sahar Khoury (b. 1973, Chicago) lives and works in Oakland. Her art is informed by her background in anthropology and a deep interest in structural vulnerability within communities.
