Enigmatic humor and scintillating surfaces characterize the work of the artist duo :mentalKLINIK.
A floor strewn with pink glitter is attended to by a fleet of robot vacuums, suggesting that a party has already transpired. Yet the vacuums themselves engage in a kind of dance, kicking up little clouds of glitter as they crisscross the floor, as if standing in for absent revelers. Tracks left in the blanketing of glitter are soon obliterated by more tracks, meaning the work is constantly in flux, and is never the same twice.

Founded in 1998, :mentalKLINIK is an artist duo consisting of Yasemin Baydar (b. Istanbul) and Birol Demir (b. Ankara, Turkey) who live and work in Brussels and Istanbul. Their work explores the intersection of pop aesthetics and social commentary, often using immersive installations and sculptural objects that blend elements of disco-ball glamour, neon lighting, and confetti with darker, humorous undertones.
