Spot the Samurai
Have you seen our samurai around town? If he looks familiar, it's because you may have seen him in the advertising for our upcoming exhibition, Lords of the Samurai—an extraodinary showcase of beautiful artworks all from the Hosokawa family collection. The Hosokawa clan, powerful military nobles with an impressive 600-year-old lineage, embodied a duality of fierce warrior and refined gentleman, characteristic of the highest ranking samurai. More than just brilliant warriors, they were artistic masters. Come see REAL armor (you won't believe your eyes), armaments, formal attire, calligraphy, paintings, teaware, lacquerware, masks, and musical instruments.
Below you'll find slideshows of pictures that capture our ambassador samurai at various events in the Bay Area. Perhaps you're in one of the photos? To peruse and navigate, simply click on the right end of the slideshow, or use the scroll bar at the bottom. If you like a particular photo and want to view a larger version, just click on it.
If you see the samurai, be sure to snap a few pictures and upload to our public Flickr group. We'd love to see them.
Check back often! Our samurai gets around town.
